Traffic Guidelines

Please join us as we work to protect all BC students, by following the traffic guidelines developed by Irvine Police Department. Refer to the information below and the Traffic Flow Map.

TRAFFIC FLOW

DO NOT STOP YOUR VEHICLE ON SUNDANCE DRIVE UNLESS YOU ARE PARKED CURBSIDE! This is considered double parking and impeding traffic even if you are in your vehicle with the engine running.  In the morning it is necessary to keep the flow of traffic moving. Please be considerate… avoid time consuming tasks in vehicle (hair combing, eating, brushing teeth, etc.).

  • Left turns into the driveway are NOT ALLOWED.
  • Be observant of staff at the driveway entrance as they give direction for the safety of the pedestrians.
  • Consider drop off and pick up of your child by the park near Turtle Rock Drive or other neighborhood streets and avoid Sundance altogether.
  • STUDENTS CROSSING TURTLE ROCK DRIVE MUST CROSS AT THE SUNDANCE DRIVE INTERSECTION WITH THE CROSSING GUARD. NO STUDENT IS TO CROSS TURTLE ROCK DRIVE AT CHAPARRAL PARK WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION!

The safety of our children depends on your observance of the following guidelines, which have been established with the assistance of the Irvine Police Department.

  • DOUBLE PARKING on Sundance is a safety hazard, impedes traffic, and is against the law. Children may be dropped off on the school side of Sundance. If you drop off or pick up your child across the street from the school, he/she must walk to the corner crosswalk manned with a crossing guard or adult. (see picture on reverse)
  • Vehicle traffic on Sundance must drive all the way to the top of the hill (past Flintridge to Rim Rock), make a U-turn, and wait in a single line (CURBSIDE) to drop off or pick up students. DO NOT STOP YOUR VEHICLE IN THE ROADWAY!
  • Drivers who leave their vehicles unattended in the NO PARKING ZONE on Sundance are subject to citation by the Irvine Police Department.
  • Please be considerate of our neighbors by not blocking side street access/

Be a good neighbor and citizen. Follow our traffic flow guidelines. They are designed to protect students. Your cooperation is expected.
